Winter Sports Holiday Insurance
Winter sports carry their own unique risks and we therefore offer winter sports insurance as an upgrade to our Standard or Premier policies. The upgrade extends cover to loss or damage of owned or hired ski equipment, loss or theft of ski pass and compensation for Piste closure, avalanche or landslide. The usual medical emergency, repatriation and personal liability cover is also extended to winter sport-related accidents.
Our winter sports insurance is available for both European and Worldwide destinations and we cover the following winter sports undertaken on a non-competitive and non-professional basis:
Cross country skiing (Nordic Skiing), mono skiing or snowboarding (in areas designated safe by resort management), skiing, snow sledging, tobogganing, snow blading, cat skiing, big foot skiing, glacier skiing, ice hockey and off-Piste skiing or snowboarding (within local ski patrol guidelines).
Your Winter Sports Travel Insurance includes:
- Prices from just £11.46
- Covers your skis and ski equipment up to £500
- Includes ski pass and ski equipment delay
- Includes piste closure
- Redundancy cover
- 24 hour worldwide emergency assistance
- Off piste skiing/snowboarding (see below for details)
We do not cover winter sports classed as extreme, including heli-skiing, luging, off-piste skiing or snowboarding in areas designated as unsafe by resort management, off-piste skiing or snowboarding where there is an avalanche warning in place, ski acrobatics and stunting, ski jumping, or ski racing.

Dr Travel Tips
- Before you travel you should call your bank and let them know where you are travelling and the dates of your trip to avoid bank card issues.
- If you are travelling on business and you only use your laptop when plugged in to the mains, remove the battery before you travel to reduce the weight.
- To reduce the effects of jetlag, a few days before you leave you should try to go to bed a little earlier if you are flying east and a little later if you are flying west.
- If you are off backpacking, a piece of advice that regularly floats about is that you should pack your bag, take it all out and put half back in.
