Travel Insurance
The cost of dealing with the unexpected when travelling overseas can soon add up if things go wrong on holiday, making travel insurance a must for anyone planning a trip abroad.
Why do you need travel insurance?
At its best, travelling can be a life-enhancing experience but even with the best planning, things outside our control can go wrong; illness or bereavement may mean cancellation or curtailment of your trip; industrial action or bad weather can cause flight delays; luggage, sports equipment or other valuables may be delayed, lost or stolen. Of even greater concern, medical attention may be required whilst abroad or a serious illness may make repatriation necessary and the cost of such events can run to many thousands of pounds. Finally, unlikely although we may consider it to be unlikely, we could find ourselves responsible for someone else's injury, liability for which could run to millions. Suitable insurance must be in place to cover all of these potential, unexpected expenses.
In response to browser's enquiries we set out to find reliable and efficient insurance providers to recommend. We selected White Horse Insurance for the quality of their service and competitive pricing and 24DrTravel Insurance was born. Our cover is arranged by Rock Insurance and underwritten by White Horse Insurance. We offer a full range of cover for all ages and, most importantly, offer cover for many pre-existing medical conditions.
We aim to provide good quality insurance cover at competitive prices and the overriding principle of 24DrTravel Insurance is that customers should understand what they are buying and what cover options are available to them. Our web site is now a one-stop shop, from finding out what to expect from your travel destination to taking out the insurance cover you require.
How much cover do you need?
There is a common perception that in hard times, savings can be made by cutting back on "non-essentials" under which heading some people would include insurance cover. This could not be further from the truth. The lack of cover for something as essential as medical expenses could break the bank for those who are already stretched. Instead we would recommend a careful assessment and tailoring of your cover to suit your requirements and budget.
Some individuals are happy at levels of insurance that others would consider either inadequate or extravagant. If money is tight, carry as much risk as you can afford but get the rest covered. If you are making a late booking, for example, you may feel able to reduce the amount of cancellation cover required. To widen the scope of choice, we have introduced a Basic Economy level, which will cover the essentials, as an option for those who decide to carry more risk. Check the different levels of cover we offer on our website to decide with what level of risk you would feel comfortable, or call us on 0844 482 2303 for help.
We have the policy for you whatever your needs; single-trip cover, annual cover, winter sports cover and even the choice of covering pre-existing medical conditions. Besides the peace of mind of adequate cover, we also offer our policy holders the additional benefit of a free 24 hour emergency assistance service.
Are you over 65?
We offer insurance to all ages and would argue that the correct cover is particularly important for pensioners over 65 years of age. We offer competitive insurance cover for travellers up to 79 years of age, including annual multi-trip cover up to age 74 and single-trip travel cover up to age 79.
Do you have a pre-existing medical condition?
We are delighted to offer all travellers the choice to include pre-existing medical conditions on their policies. These are automatically excluded from cover by most insurance providers. We believe that the option to include them should be available to give travellers a greater choice as to the level of risk they are happy to carry themselves. Unlike other companies, we don't charge for medical screening either; It is a simple process to contact our Medical Screening Helpline on 0845 250 5206, to answer a few questions and check if your pre-existing condition can be covered. The helpline is open Mon – Fri 9am to 8pm, Sat 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
