Rabies free countries
The following countries currently reported as Rabies free by the World Health Organisation
The Americas
Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Turks and Caicos, Virgin Islands(USA).
Asia
Japan. Also not normally present in the island of Taiwan.
Europe
Denmark,Finland, Gibralter, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Monaco, Norway (mainland only), Portugal, Sweden, United Kingdom.
Oceania
Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, New Caledonia, NewZealand, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Western Samoa.
Although these countries are considered to be " rabies free " no animal bite should be ignored. If the traveller is bitten, a competent opinion should be sought as to the possibility of rabies in the area.
